Amruta Garud

Amruta Garud is a gifted Indian Classical vocalist and enterprising spirit with more than 15 years of experience leading Ayan Cymru. Amruta has tirelessly promoted diversity, arts, culture exchange, healing, and well-being.

In 2022 Amruta established Inner-Connect to provide unique health and wellness sessions incorporating ancient Indian music, breathing techniques, yoga, body percussion, and various participatory activities.

She holds a Sangeet Visharad Degree from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, and a Bachelor of Arts in Indian Music from Nagpur University, India.

She has several recordings on her name and some of the songs are regularly broadcast on regional Radio Stations in India.

In the UK, Amruta’s voice resonates across schools and education settings in Wales through her arrangement of Indian traditional songs in Western scales, featured in the CânSing song bank. An initiative supported by the Welsh government.

She is the first to introduce graded music qualifications in Wales. She is an independent examiner and a tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, teaching diverse music, and demonstrating her commitment to knowledge sharing.

Amruta becomes the first Asian Indian artist from Wales to recreate Dacw ‘Nghariad (a traditional Welsh song) using traditional Indian classical and Western music. This fusion reflects her strong affinity for Welsh culture and promotes intercultural exchange. This song was widely praised within the Welsh community and was endorsed by the Welsh government.

Amruta was invited to participate in Eisteddfod 2024, making her the only Indian vocalist to perform in Welsh Language. Founder and lead vocalist of Band Zero Mile Amruta seamlessly blends Eastern and Western influences.
