Founder & Director
Amruta Garud is the Founder and driving force behind Ayan Cymru, shaping its vision to build a more connected and healthier Wales through arts, culture, and wellbeing. With over 15 years of experience as an Indian Classical vocalist and cultural leader, she has been instrumental in creating cross-cultural programmes that bring communities together and promote inclusion.
Her work blends artistic excellence with wellbeing, reflected in her founding of Inner-Connect—an initiative delivering immersive sessions combining music, breathwork, and participatory practices.
A highly accomplished musician and educator, Amruta holds advanced qualifications in Indian Classical Music and has contributed to both performance and education in India and the UK. She is an independent examiner and tutor, and a pioneer in introducing graded Indian music qualifications in Wales.
Through her leadership, Amruta continues to guide Ayan Cymru in building a more connected and healthier Wales through arts, culture, and wellbeing—bringing people together through cross-cultural programmes and creative experiences.
Gareth Bonello
Director & Creative Collaborator
Gareth Bonello is an acclaimed Welsh musician, composer, and cultural innovator, best known for his work as The Gentle Good. With over a decade of experience, he blends traditional Welsh folk with global influences, creating distinctive and thought-provoking music.
A recipient of the Welsh Music Prize, Gareth has released several critically acclaimed albums and performed internationally. His work often explores themes of identity, language, and heritage, reflecting a strong commitment to Welsh culture.
Alongside his artistic work, Gareth is an experienced educator and has contributed to academic and community projects across Wales.
Through his involvement with Ayan Cymru, Gareth brings valuable industry insight and creative perspective, supporting the organisation’s artistic direction and helping position its work within a wider cultural landscape.
Robert Evans
Director & Cultural Mentor
Robert Evans is a Welsh musician, performer, and cultural practitioner, best known for his work with the folk ensemble Bragod. With a deep grounding in traditional Welsh music, he is recognised as a mentor and guide, dedicated to preserving and sharing ancient musical traditions.
His work centres on reviving historic Welsh music through early instruments, vocal traditions, and storytelling, bringing heritage to life in contemporary settings. As a custodian of Welsh musical heritage, he inspires both audiences and emerging artists.
Robert is also an experienced workshop leader, working with schools and communities across Wales to support learning, participation, and cultural connection.
Through his involvement with Ayan Cymru, Robert provides artistic guidance and cultural insight, helping shape programmes that honour tradition while inspiring new creative expression.
